Request for Qualifications for Architect & Engineer for California State University, Fresno (Meat Lab Project)

The University is soliciting Statements of Qualifications for a Programming, Design and Construction Administration of Fresno State Meat Lab Project from California State licensed architectural firms with specific experience in designing higher education facilities. Prequalification with Capital Planning, Design and Construction division of The California State University is required. All respondents must be prequalified with the Trustees prior to the Technical Proposal due date and submit their prequalification letter with their Technical Proposal or their Technical Proposal submission will not be considered. The facility will be approximately 5,720 ASF/6,880 GSF. The new facility will create unique spaces for the food safety and security of processed meats products by ensuring that the processed and unprocessed meats are in separate spaces to meet USDA Certification Standards. The project will contain a training/area that will continue to support community engagement, safe socialization practices, and provide a conducive learning space for students. As a starting point the University has developed the following list of tasks for the new Meat Lab Building Facility (#229): • Collaborate with the University to develop the overall aspirational goals of the project, including occupants, functionality, design goals and site improvements. • Floor Plan Develop: including function, area, adjacency requirements, and equipment. • Attend meetings as necessary.• The architect must hire a third-party consultant who has experience designing Meat Lab buildings for the CSU system or equivalent. The third-party consultant will provide input on the new Meat Lab building functionality and layout of equipment. Credentials must be submitted with the RFQ package. • Prepare and document the preferred development option that reflects the needs of the program determined. • Prepare representative graphics of the preferred concept for the use in conveying project intent. • Sustainability Analysis: Utilizing conceptual energy and water analysis in addition to the University campus wide LEED certification efforts. • Conceptual Cost Estimate and Constructability and Phasing Analysis. • Clarify Plan Review Check comments.
