1. General Summary of Services Required.


The U.S. Consulate General Cape Town invites qualified vendors to submit quotations for the reconnection and integration of backup generators at ten (10) official residential properties.


The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, supervision, tools, equipment, transportation, and incidentals necessary to perform the required work in accordance with the attached Scope of Work (SOW) for Reconnection of Residential Backup Generators.


Work includes, but is not limited to:


  • Conducting site assessments at each residence
  • Reconnecting existing generators to electrical distribution systems
  • Integrating generators with existing solar, battery, and municipal power systems
  • Installing required electrical components (e.g., Automatic Transfer Switches, interlocks, control systems)
  • Ensuring safe, compliant, and fully functional system operation
  • Testing and commissioning of all systems

All work must comply with applicable local electrical codes, safety standards, and Department of State requirements.


2. Contract Details. The purpose of this request for offers is to award a purchase order to the qualified vendor who provides a bid that credibly addresses the requirements identified in the scope of work attached and is the lowest priced of all technically acceptable offers. The Government may award the contract based on the initial offer without discussion.  


3. Interested Vendors.


Vendors must demonstrate:


  • At least five (5) years of experience in electrical installation, generator systems, or similar infrastructure projects
  • Provide proof of TESLA certification
  • Completion of at least three (3) comparable projects within the past five (5) years
  • Proven experience with:
    • Generator integration
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) or equivalent systems

References are required and must be included with the quotation.


A mandatory site visit will be conducted at the residential properties on July 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM. All prospective offerors must confirm their attendance no later than July 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

Contractors who do not confirm attendance by providing the above information before the deadline will strictly not be allowed entry on the day of the site visit. 4. Proposal Submission Requirements


Offerors must submit:

  • Required certification under section 10 of the attached scope of work

5. Payment terms. The U.S. Consulate will make no provision for fluctuations in price or exchange rates after the order has been placed.  If your price is dependent on these fluctuations, you MUST make provision for possible increases in your offer price. Payment will be made via EFT into the company’s bank account, within 30 days of delivery of goods/services and receipt of proper Invoice, not before.  *Note: No advanced/deposit payments permitted.
