The Department of Defense (DoD) requires the development of a United States (US) based solution to expand far forward resuscitation capabilities, which includes a suite of freeze dried or lyophilized blood products. Qualities of such products include shelf stability without reliance on cold storage, safe, pathogen free blood products, and soluble products that can be easily reconstituted. The application of innovative technologies in a Lyophilized Cryoprecipitate Manufacturing Pilot Line Prototype will improve supply sources by 1) addressing a supply chain vulnerability, 2) allow for expansion of shelf stable blood products and 3) provide a potential manufacturing stream for other medical products that can be lyophilized.
