Notice of Exemption for the installation of a real-time reservoir elevation gage station at the existing R.W. Matthews Dam, consisting of a water level sensor, a data collection platform, solar power, and satellite telemetry equipment, to transmit hourly or sub-hourly reservoir elevation data to the California Data Exchange Center (CDEC). The project is funded through the California Department of Water Resources' Real-Time Data Direct Grant Program (RGUS). Beneficiaries include Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District, the Division of Safety of Dams, and downstream flood and emergency management agencies, through improved dam safety monitoring and early warning of high-water conditions.
