RFA 2027-02 GC Prequalification for CTE Addition and Secondary Improvements

Goochland County Public Schools is seeking to prequalify General Contractors for the CTE Addition and Secondary Improvements Project located on Bulldog Way in Goochland, Virginia. This 30 million dollar project involves the construction of a new two-story, 40,000 gross square foot building to expand Career and Technical Education programs in fields such as health sciences, culinary arts, robotics, and agricultural education, as well as the addition of an auxiliary gymnasium and wrestling support area. The scope includes comprehensive site work, structural and architectural construction, and the installation of specialized laboratory infrastructure. Construction is estimated to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and conclude by May or June 2028, requiring careful phasing to maintain safety on an active school campus. To be prequalified, applicants must meet strict mandatory requirements, including holding a valid Virginia Commonwealth Class A license and having been established as a full-time contractor for at least eight years. Firms must demonstrate satisfactory performance on at least three similar institutional projects and prove the financial ability to acquire bid, performance, and payment bonds totaling 30 million dollars. Additionally, the proposed Project Manager and Site Superintendent must each have experience with at least three similar projects.
