Rfp: Professional Design-Build Services Canoplay Treescape

Davie County Recreation and Parks is actively seeking proposals from qualified Design-Build Teams to spearhead the design and construction of the innovative CanoPLAY Treescape project, to be located at Davie County Community Park. This ambitious project is focused on creating an inclusive, interactive outdoor treehouse that adheres to the principles of Universal Design and meets the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as stipulated by the Accessibility for Parks Grant. This initiative reflects Davie County's broader commitment to enhancing park amenities and improving recreational experiences for both residents and visitors. The proposed treehouse, CanoPLAY Treescape, aims to be an inclusive masterpiece, designed to accommodate individuals of all ages and abilities. Key features of the project include a rock wall with adaptive harnesses, a vertical bike with specialized pedal extensions catering to children, individuals with dwarfism, and those with limited leg use, alongside hand pedals for accessibility. Additional elements include sensory relief features, educational railing enclosures crafted from North Carolina's native trees, and natural nooks for reading and resting. An accessible boardwalk is also planned, which will connect to existing greenways and include features to assist individuals with vision impairments. Nature interactives placed throughout the area are intended to promote fine motor skills and cognitive development for individuals with various disabilities. The selected design-build team will be responsible for organizing public meetings, developing preliminary conceptual drawings, evaluating existing site conditions, producing detailed construction documents, and ensuring adherence to all relevant codes and regulations. The construction phase is slated to begin by June 30, 2025, with project completion expected by March 31, 2026, at 151 Southwood Drive, Mocksville, NC.
