The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) is undergoing a regulatory transition, moving from the Health Professions Act to the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) as of April 1, 2026. This new framework enhances the CPSBC’s mandate to protect the public by incorporating stronger commitments to prevent harm and discrimination, promote reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in alignment with UNDRIP and DRIPA, uphold anti-discriminatory practices, and ensure fairness, transparency, and respect for privacy. Additionally, the regulatory scope of CPSBC will expand to include four new health professions—clinical perfusionists, medical laboratory technologists, radiation therapists, and respiratory therapists—starting November 29, 2027. In support of this transition and expansion, the CPSBC has issued a solicitation for an RFP Project Manager to oversee the regulation of these new professions. This role will be critical in ensuring that the newly regulated professions meet established standards of practice and conduct, aligning with the CPSBC’s core mission to safeguard patient safety. The project management opportunity, classified under a federal agency within the Government of Canada, invites responses by February 20, 2026, with the contracting authority accessible via email for further inquiries. This initiative reflects CPSBC’s proactive approach to evolving healthcare regulation and public protection in British Columbia.
