The contract calls for a qualified proponent to carry out invasive plant management within the Robson Valley Invasive Plant Management Area (IPMA) in the Regional District of Fraser Fort-George, part of northwest British Columbia. The successful contractor will be responsible for conducting detailed inventories and mapping of invasive plants, implementing chemical and/or mechanical treatments on high-priority targets across public, municipal, regional, private lands, and utilities within the designated area. This work includes on-site data collection, verification, and uploading information to the provincial InvasivesBC database, along with comprehensive tracking of time and travel by jurisdiction. Public education and awareness activities about invasive plant control are also components of the project, with a seasonal report required at the end of the contract period. The Northwest Invasive Plant Council (NWIPC), a non-profit organization funded by various government bodies and private sectors, oversees this initiative as part of its broader mandate to prevent the spread of invasive plant species across the region. A crucial requirement is that personnel applying herbicides must hold valid Pesticide Applicator or Assistant Applicator certificates in compliance with the BC Integrated Pest Management Act and Regulation, ensuring proper and safe herbicide use. The contract was posted in January 2026, with proposals due by March 3, 2026, and includes an online information session scheduled for early February 2026 to provide further project details and guidance.
