This requirement supports the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS), Cattle Fever Tick Eradication Program (CFTEP). Veterinary Services serves as the Nation’s veterinary authority, safeguarding animal health and supporting the safety and availability of animals, animal products, and veterinary biologics.


CFTEP has worked to eradicate cattle fever ticks since 1906. Recently, infestations have increased significantly. These ticks transmit bovine babesiosis (cattle fever), a disease historically responsible for substantial economic losses within the U.S. cattle industry.


To support Mounted Patrol Inspectors (MPIs) conducting horseback river patrols and operating in areas where threats to personnel may arise, USDA seeks to procure standardized duty pistols to improve safety, readiness, and operational consistency.


This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12.  This announcement constitutes the only solicitation.  Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.
