SFU has matured into one of the world’s leading teaching and research universities with more than 26,000 students, 2,700 faculty and staff, and 200,000 alumni in 145+ countries.This Request for Supplier Qualification (RFSQ) is an invitation by Simon Fraser University (SFU) to prospective proponents (the Proponents) to submit their responses in compliance with the requirements outlined in this RFSQ. The objective of this RFSQ is to establish a List of Prequalified Vertical Transportation Consultants (the “List”) whom SFU will engage to respond to specific invitations to bid for projects, or to directly award work across SFU’s Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver campuses in connection with projects. The engagement of Prequalified Vertical Transportation Consultants will be on an as-needed basis for design and construction phase services for projects with estimated construction costs up to $3,000,000, or for pre-design services for projects, provided the overall pre-design fee does not exceed $300,000. The scope of these projects will include services to be provided in connection with works to be completed for various buildings and infrastructure, among other matters (refer to RFSQ Section 2.2, Scope of Work, for additional details).Subject to the provisions of this RFSQ and other existing SFU rules and policies SFU intends to award work to Prequalified Vertical Transportation Consultants on an “as-and-when” basis. Work may include, but is not limited to capital projects, alterations, upgrades, repairs, feasibility studies, and condition assessments. See RFSQ Section 2.2, “Scope of Work”, for further details. By using lists of prequalified vendors SFU expects to provide fair opportunity to the Prequalified Vertical Transportation Consultants, as well as save time and effort in awarding these works. SFU in its sole and unfettered discretion reserves the right to make any changes to the process of awarding works as described in this RFSQ. This includes but is not limited to cancellation of any list of Prequalified Vertical Transportation Consultants or adding or removing Proponents from a list of Prequalified Vertical Transportation Consultants.It is SFU’s intention to select at least three (3) Proponents. The selected Proponents will be included on SFU’s List of Prequalified Vertical Transportation Consultants for a period of one (1) year, with an option for SFU to extend the time that any firm remains on the List a described in Section 2.3 “Time Period”.
