Roadside Vegetation Management - USDA Grant

The Town of Los Gatos is soliciting electronic bids for the Roadside Vegetation Management project, funded by a USDA Grant under CIP# 8115. This project involves the treatment of 22.3 miles of roadway located within high and very high fire hazard severity zones to create a defensible buffer and mitigate wildfire impacts on town escape routes. The scope of work includes the removal of flammable vegetation and small trees up to 20 feet on either side of identified roads, specific limbing and stump height requirements, and the off-site removal of all wood chips. The estimated cost for the project is $1,000,000, with an anticipated start date around October 13, 2026, and a required completion period of 120 calendar days. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Bidders are required to provide a bid security equal to 10% of the maximum bid amount via a cashier's check, certified check, or a California-licensed surety bond. The project is subject to several federal and state regulations, including 2 CFR part 200, USDA general terms, California prevailing wage laws, and Buy America preferences. Additionally, contractors must comply with local ordinances, including the Town of Los Gatos Tree Protection Ordinance and Santa Clara County Fire Department access road standards.
