Rodent Control

The contractor is responsible for rodent control operations in earthen sections of flood protection projects or dams, beginning with the Technical Point of Contact marking all active burrows with flags. Treatment must be conducted using commercial-grade groundhog gas cartridges containing a minimum of 53% sodium nitrate, strictly in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. All work must be carried out by teams of at least two personnel to ensure continuous monitoring of escape holes, and each burrow must be immediately sealed upon cartridge deployment to contain the gas. After treatment, all burrows are to be filled with a slurry composed of 90% earth and 10% bentonite, applied via low-pressure pump to eliminate voids, followed by a six-inch layer of topsoil graded to match the surrounding terrain, seeded, and covered with straw or hay matting. Daily Quality Control Reports must be submitted to the Technical Point of Contact, and all work must be inspected by them within one week of completion to verify compliance with all specifications.
