The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed-price contract to The Parvus Corporation, doing business as CWDS, for the procurement of DuraNET 4948 Ruggedized Cisco 4948E Switches, part number DUNET-30-4948-01. This requirement is for twenty units with an option for five additional units, with a total estimated value of 1,036,000 dollars. The equipment is specifically required for Battle Management Systems Gun Weapon Systems to meet strict form, fit, and function specifications. Under the authority of 10 USC 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, the government has determined that The Parvus Corporation is the only available source for this ruggedized version of the Cisco switch. Introducing an alternative product would result in unsustainable costs related to redevelopment and revalidation. While the notice was published for informational purposes to allow other responsible sources to submit technical capabilities to procurement specialist James Williams, the government maintains sole discretion on whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
