SA Recycling, LLC (SA Recycling) proposes to demolish and remove existing improvements on the property at Pier T in the Port of Long Beach (Port) consisting of the operations and administration building, parking lot, weighing station/truck scales, two railroad spurs, stockpile yard, loading areas, maintenance facilities, utilities (gas, electrical, fire, communication, water, and sewer), aboveground storage tank, stormwater conveyance system comprised of a pump station/clarifier, sumps, and aboveground piping, concrete, footings, flood lighting, boundary wall, and perimeter fencing. The existing wharf, crane rail system, oil pipelines, and plugged oil wells would remain on the property. As required by its lease with the Port, SA Recycling would restore the premises to its pre-lease condition. Subsequent to demolition and restoration activities, the Project site would be covered with crushed rock/gravel to prevent soil erosion, and fencing would be installed along the perimeter of the Project site for security purposes. There are currently no approved developments, operations, or new land uses for the Project site following the proposed removal of the improvements, site restoration activities, and vacation of the premises by SA Recycling. The Project site is not included on a list of hazardous waste sites compiled pursuant to California Government Code Section 65962.5 (Cortese List/California Department of Toxic Substances Control EnviroStor).
