Caltrans proposes a safety improvement project to reduce cross-over collisions along this segment of State Route (SR) 160 from Post Mile (PM) 2.73 to 6.98 in Sacramento County. The project aims to provide errant drivers with additional space to take corrective action before entering the opposing travel lane. A segment between PM 0.09 to PM 5.23 of SR 160 was identified in the 2021 Cross-over Collisions Monitoring Report, which was based on collisions between January 2017 and December 2021 caused by vehicles that crossed into the opposing travel lane. Based on the same collision period from that report, a segment was identified and analyzed from PM L2.73 to L6.98. A total of 6 fatal and 8 serious injury collisions occurred in that segment.
