Sacramento River - Prospect Avenue Fishing Access Hazardous Fuel Reduction Project

The Sacramento River-Prospect Avenue Fishing Access Hazardous Fuel Reduction Project is a forecast initiative managed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Region 1, to increase fire resiliency and environmental protection in Siskiyou County, California. Located just north of Dunsmuir at the end of Prospect Avenue, the project focuses on the removal of hazardous vegetation and woody debris. The scope of work includes the removal of overgrown understory brush, woody vines, and dead or dying trees, as well as the clearing of small diameter conifer saplings and sprouts under 8 inches in diameter at breast height to prevent disease and overcrowding. Additionally, larger healthy trees will be pruned to a maximum height of 10 feet from the ground, and all dead woody material will be disposed of through chipping or pile burning. This project is classified under NAICS code 561730 and is being executed under CEQA exemptions Section 15304 Class 4 and Section 15308 Class 8, which cover minor vegetation alterations and regulatory actions for environmental protection.
