San Bernardino Countywide Plan

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has issued Incidental Take Permits to authorize the removal of protected western Joshua trees for residential development in Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County. Specifically, Permit No. 1927-ITP-2026-032-06 issued to 2001 Bellevue LLC authorizes the incidental take of three western Joshua trees to facilitate the construction of a 1,500 square foot single-family residence and a 500 square foot attached auxiliary dwelling unit. This project also includes the installation of a driveway, overhead electrical connections, a septic tank with leach lines, and a water meter with associated piping. Additionally, Permit No. 1927-ITP-2026-049-06 authorizes the incidental take of one western Joshua tree for a separate project involving the construction of a 30 by 15 foot swimming pool and fence on a 5-acre lot. For both projects, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife determined that there are no significant environmental effects within its jurisdiction, provided that the adopted mitigation measures and monitoring plans are followed. These actions are conducted in compliance with the Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act and the California Endangered Species Act, with environmental impact reports prepared by the Town of Yucca Valley.
