San Pedro Ponds Pipeline Installation Project

The San Pedro Ponds Pipeline Installation Project, managed by the Santa Clara Valley Water District, is designed to maximize groundwater recharge in the Llagas Groundwater Subbasin and protect infrastructure from erosion. The scope of work involves undergrounding 2,200 linear feet of existing 12-inch diameter HDPE pipe to facilitate the recharge of Ponds 1, 3, and 7. Additionally, the project includes the installation of approximately 450 linear feet of new 12-inch HDPE pipeline to connect the ponds to an existing storm drain manhole at the Madrone Channel, along with the installation of energy dissipation vaults and rock slope protection outfall structures at Ponds 3 and 7 to prevent bank erosion. All construction, staging, and stockpiling activities will take place on a 38.4-acre Valley Water fee title property located in Morgan Hill, California. The project is classified under NAICS code 237110 and is expected to be completed within a three-week construction period. According to the Notice of Exemption dated June 17, 2026, the project is CEQA-exempt under Class 1 for existing facilities and Class 2 for replacement or reconstruction.
