Zone 7 Water Agency plans to replace an existing monitoring well in the northwest portion of the Livermore Valley Groundwater Basin, situated in a high-traffic area along Bollinger Canyon Road near Camino Ramon, with a new well located along the Iron Horse Trail corridor near coordinates 37.759116, -121.951713. The current well is difficult and hazardous to access due to heavy vehicular traffic, requiring extensive traffic control measures for routine water level monitoring and sample collection. The replacement project aims to improve operational safety and efficiency by relocating the well to a more accessible site while maintaining critical monitoring of groundwater conditions in the same region of the basin. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027 and will involve decommissioning the existing structure and constructing a new, strategically positioned monitoring well on county-owned land. Primary contacts for the project include Jennifer Heller, Jacob Danielsen, and Elke Rank from Zone 7 Water Agency, who are responsible for planning, geology, and water resources oversight.

Zone 7 Water Agency (Zone 7) owns an existing monitoring well in the northwest portion of the Livermore Valley Groundwater Basin (Basin; Department of Water Resources Basin No. 2-10) that is located in the middle of Bollinger Canyon Road and near the cross-street Camino Ramon. Bollinger Canyon Road is a major thoroughfare often with heavy traffic that requires extensive traffic control to access and monitor the well for water levels and collection of water quality samples. Zone 7 plans to destroy the existing well and replace it in a more accessible and safer location nearby, while still providing access to critical groundwater conditions in the northwest portion of the Basin. The proposed location of the new well is along the Iron Horse Trail corridor (owned by Contra Costa County) at approximately 37.759116, -121.951713). The project is expected to take place in 2027.
