SDG&E EV Chargers - Lot B (25/26-SD-02)

The California Department of Parks and Recreation, specifically the San Diego Coast District, is overseeing the installation of public electric vehicle chargers by San Diego Gas and Electric at Parking Lot B within the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. This project, identified as 25/26-SD-02, is being executed in accordance with Assembly Bill 1083. The scope of work involves converting existing parking spaces into approximately four new concrete parking spaces, including one ADA stall, without adding additional parking capacity to the lot. Construction activities will include ground disturbance such as trenching and excavating using shovels, backhoes, excavators, and shoring systems. To facilitate the project, a Right-of-Entry permit will be issued to SDG&E for the completion of the work, and a subsequent easement will be granted to ensure SDG&E can maintain the chargers. During the construction phase, the parking lot drive aisle must remain accessible, with safety managed through specific traffic and pedestrian control plans. The project is classified as exempt under CEQA Class 3, Section 15303 for the new construction or conversion of small structures, as no significant environmental impacts are anticipated.
