AI Contract Overview

This contract provides unscheduled depot level drop in maintenance for C-5 aircraft, awarded to Lockheed Martin as a sole source provider. The award was justified based on Lockheed Martin's exclusive access to proprietary engineering design data, specialized test sets, and the unique facilities required to support multiple aircraft simultaneously. The pricing structure is primarily time and material, accounting for 95.19 percent of the contract, with the remaining 4.81 percent as firm fixed price, reflecting the unpredictable nature of the necessary repairs. A subsequent modification increased the contract ceiling from 32 million dollars to 51,244,348 dollars to address fuel leaks caused by aileron hinge bracket cracks discovered across the C-5 fleet. This modification also increased the best estimated quantity for Option 2 from 4 to 15 units. While the ceiling and quantities were raised to accommodate these critical structural repairs, no new funds were obligated at the time of the modification.
