Sheetpiling Wall Repair

The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (Corporation) plans to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for a contractor to furnish all plant, labor, equipment and materials to repair approximately 60 linear feet of anchored PZ-27 sheetpiling wall. The sheetpiling wall has corroded at a number of bolted connections that hold the wall to the anchors causing the connections to fail and the wall to be displaced outward about 12 inches at the top of the wall at the center of the failed area. The bolted connections held a waler to the back side of the wall to which the anchors were also connected. The failed connections are located below the water. Methods for the contractor to access the failed connections may include the use of divers, cofferdams, dewatering boxes or any other method which provides the required access. The repairs will consist of removing the backfill to expose the waler/connections, moving the wall back to the original alignment and then restoring the failed connections. The cost range of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000. There is a $25.00 US funds non-refundable fee for a CD with drawings. The invitation for Bid (IFB) package will be issued on or about August 15, 2011 with a response date of September 15, 2011. A firm fixed price contract will be awarded.
