The Sidewalk Repair Program BSS-66 is a project managed by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering to repair existing sidewalks at nine specific sites within Council District 9. This initiative is conducted to fulfill the city's legal obligations under the Willis Settlement Agreement, specifically focusing on the removal of Americans with Disabilities Act access barriers and related adjacent work as identified by residents with disabilities. The project is designed to benefit the general public and local businesses by ensuring all work adheres to applicable ADA accessibility requirements. The project was conditionally approved on August 11, 2026, and is statutorily exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under Public Resources Code Section 21080(b)(7) because the repairs are necessary for the hosting and staging of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. A key component of the scope includes the removal of two street trees at Site 10458 (330 W 30th St) and Site 10456 (232 W 37th St), which requires separate discretionary approval from the Board of Public Works or the Bureau of Street Services Urban Forestry Division. Lauren Rhodes serves as the primary point of contact for the project.

The Project includes the removal of 2 street trees: One at Site 10458 at 330 W 30th St and one at Site 10456 at 232 W 37th St. Both need to be removed as part of the sidewalk repair which would require separate discretionary approval by the Bureau of Street Services (StreetsLA), Urban Forestry Division or the Board of Public Works. Please see the project description continuation in the narrative for more details. The Bureau of Engineering determined the project was exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and conditionally approved the Project on August 11, 2026, contingent on approval of the tree removals by StreetsLA.
