AI Contract Overview
The 182d Airlift Wing of the Illinois Air National Guard is seeking potential small business sources for a Firm Fixed Price contract to procure Sim Protection equipment essential for training safety. The contract requires 50 each of four specific protective items: a Helmet Head Protector (Part #8972264 or equal), a Male Groin Protector (Part #8971770 or equal), a Female Groin Protector (Part #8971771 or equal), and a Throat Protector (Part #8971764 or equal), all rated for protection against simunition ammunition. The helmet must be compatible with the USAF Authorized Small Arms and Light Weapons Accessories listing, while the groin protectors must remain securely in place during physical activities such as running. A single freight line item is included to cover delivery. The procurement is designated as a Total Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS code 315990, intended to facilitate competition among certified small businesses including 8(a), HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, and Woman-Owned Small Business concerns. The agency will evaluate responses to determine whether the set-aside is appropriate or if the solicitation should be opened unrestricted based on available small business participation. Interested parties must respond in writing via email to Natalie Gootee at natalie.gootee.4@us.af.mil by 12:00 PM CDT on July 8, 2026, with responses limited to five typewritten pages. Each submission must include a signed Sources Sought Response Form, a positive statement of intent to serve as a prime contractor, and a detailed list of three years of comparable government and private industry contracts including type, dollar value, location, point of contact, and contract number. Respondents must provide their CAGE Code, DUNS Number, and confirm active SAM registration. The response form requires certification of socio-economic status under the applicable NAICS code, with failure to complete all requirements potentially disqualifying the firm from consideration in the set-aside decision. No reimbursement will be provided for any costs incurred in preparing a response, and facsimile submissions are not accepted. The notice serves purely as a market research tool to assess small business capabilities and does not constitute a solicitation or binding obligation, with the actual solicitation to follow based on the findings from this sources-sought phase.
