Single Source Provider for Newsela proprietary software licensesThe Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind plans to enter into a single source contract with Newsela to purchase proprietary software licenses covering the All Access PD Pass and subject-specific content in English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Writing for the fiscal years 2026 through 2029. The contract has an estimated value not to exceed $37,000. This procurement is justified as a sole source acquisition because Newsela is the exclusive provider of a unique instructional content platform, featuring partnerships with reputable organizations such as the Associated Press, National Geographic, Scientific American, and others. The content, which includes differentiated reading levels and embedded formative assessments, is proprietary and protected by intellectual property laws, making Newsela’s offerings unmatched and unavailable from any other education SaaS provider. The solicitation, identified as SS-27-007, was posted on June 10, 2026, with a response deadline of July 1, 2026, and is conducted by the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind under the NAICS code 43232500. The platform will facilitate access to Newsela’s curated educational resources customized to the school’s curricular needs. The primary contact for this acquisition is Kim Whitwam, reachable by phone or email at the contact information provided. This notice is issued in compliance with relevant Florida statutes and administrative codes, emphasizing that this is not a competitive solicitation but a notification of an intended single source agreement.
