Sole Source B52 Engine Intake Covers

Special Notice of Intent to Award Sole Source: Project Title: Engine Intake Covers Reference Number: FA460824QC032 The 2nd Contracting Squadron, Barksdale AFB, hereby submits an intent to award a sole source notice. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed-priced contract to Kennon Products Inc. under FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) for special extended skirt engine intake covers for the B52's located on Barksdale AFB, LA. This procurement action is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy the Requirement. An extended description of the product being acquired is as follows: New custom designed extended skirt engine intake covers for the B52's. Other B-52 inlet covers stop short of covering the auxiliary intake openings farther aft on the engine nacelle. Barksdale requires the extended skirt design to prevent FOD, rain and snow from entering the engine through these openings. *This notice does not constitute a solicitation document. Requests for such documents will not be considered. However, all information received after publication of this notice will be considered SOLELY for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be evaluated as to confirm or deny the decision to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not be responsible for any costs incurred by responding to this notice. The Government will not pay for information received. Firms who desire to challenge this sole source action must submit an interest letter (email is acceptable) that demonstrates technical expertise, certifications, and authorization to compete for this acquisition. The letter must describe clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government and will not be cost or time prohibitive.* Kennon Products Inc. is the original manufacturer of the engine intake covers having worked directly with Barksdale AFB, LA to design this product. Market research was conducted and has confirmed that the above company is able to meet the government's needs. Accordingly, a sole source award will be made to Kennon Products, Inc.
