The 502d Contracting Squadron intends to award a sole source contract to Data Security, Inc. (CAGE: 0B8L1) for the procurement and delivery of one SSMD-2mm Solid State Media Disintegrator (Manufacturer Part Number: 972-0001). This equipment will support the 433d Force Support Squadron Communications Flight at JBSA-Lackland, Texas. Following a Sources Sought notice, Data Security, Inc. was identified as the only valid source capable of meeting the critical salient characteristics, specifically the requirement for NSA/CSS 9-12 compliance and the ability to operate on the existing facility electrical configuration of 200-240V, 1 phase, 50/60 Hz, 6A. Other available commercial disintegrators would require industrial-grade 3-phase power, necessitating costly electrical remediation and causing significant project delays. The device is designed for the physical destruction of solid state media, including memory cards, thumb drives, circuit cards, and optical media, reducing them to a 2mm particle size. Key technical specifications include a maximum weight of 1,200 lbs, a footprint no larger than 27.5 by 43 inches, noise levels below 85 dB, and a self-contained 3-phase air filtration system. The unit must feature automatic push-button operation, an overload sensing jam-reversal system, a bin-full sensor, and a Lockout/Tagout compatible power switch. This acquisition is being conducted under the authority of RFO 8.103, RFO 8.104, and RFO 538.7104-3(a) for acquisitions at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.
