The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Acquisition Management Department in Bethesda, Maryland, has awarded a sole source contract to Medtronic, Inc. for spinal fusion stabilization components, an urgent requirement critical to their operations. This procurement was conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302, which permits the government to negotiate exclusively with a single source when only one responsible supplier can fulfill the requirement.
