5P468-23-0330/A Stage 2 – Clear Lake Main Pier Repair, Riding Mountain National Park
REQUIREMENT
Parks Canada requires repairs to portions of the Main Pier on Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park including:
• Widening the grassed area by approximately 2 m beyond the existing trees by restoring the eroded section along the west side, extending back into the lake, and positively grading to drain water towards the west, and away from the pier deck.
• Raising the existing rip rap crest height and creating a 4H:1V slope to protect the pier against wave overtopping and erosion.
• Increasing the rip rap layer thickness and adding a layer of filter rock to provide enough room for the wave action to dissipate prior to reaching the grassed area and existing trees.
• Making specified spot repairs to select broken timber aprons & sills, and deteriorated tops of timber piles along the length of the wharf and viewing area.
• Replacing the plywood backwall of the buried west wall where required to prevent further erosion and loss of materials.
Contract completion is anticipated by the end of March 31, 2025.
TWO STAGE SELECTION PROCESS
