Caltrans is proposing a bridge foundation rehabilitation of the piers along the State Route 75 (SR-75) San Diego Coronado Bay Bridge in San Diego County. The purpose of the proposed project is to rehabilitate the seismic resilience of the San Diego Coronado Bay Bridge foundations to prevent a bridge collapse in the event of a major earthquake along the Rose Canyon fault. The proposed project would upgrade the bridge protection system to prevent bridge collapse and reduce the consequences of travel, military readiness, and commerce to and from San Diego County due to a major earthquake and accidental vessel impact.
