The Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Education, is launching a three-year effort from 2026 to 2029 to advance STEM education for PK-12 students across Iowa. This initiative aims to boost student interest, achievement, and readiness for the workforce by partnering with organizations capable of delivering proven, ready-to-use STEM programming. The plan continues the Council’s ongoing mission, active since 2011, to expand high-quality STEM learning opportunities statewide. Successful respondents will be asked to deliver evidence-based STEM programs suited for both classroom and out-of-school settings, focusing on technology (such as artificial intelligence or computer science), mathematics and engineering, or the sciences. Each provider will address only one area but may include multiple grade levels, and proposals must offer tailored training and support to districts throughout the contract. Up to three partners will be selected. The initial contract term is July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with potential renewals for up to two more years, depending on performance and funding. Applicants must comply with relevant regulations, maintain proper insurance, and include detailed service delivery reports in their proposals. The contract’s value is estimated between $5 million and $15 million, and services will be provided exclusively within Iowa.
