Stokes County Animal Shelter

The project at 1075 Dodgetown Road in Walnut Cove, North Carolina involves the renovation and expansion of an animal shelter facility, encompassing approximately 3,860 square feet of renovated space following partial demolition, alongside a new building addition of about 3,442 square feet. This addition includes roughly 800 square feet of outdoor kennels. The existing structure is primarily masonry bearing walls with a metal bow truss roof, and renovations include new interior partitions, windows, doors, a standing seam metal roof, and interior demolition. The renovated spaces will feature a new entry, administrative and office areas, and a cat kennel area. The new addition will be constructed with masonry bearing walls and a TJI roof structure with single-ply TPO roofing, containing dog kennels, a delivery/service area, animal intake, laundry, food preparation, and cold storage facilities. All plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems will be updated throughout the facility, with an optional new generator as an add alternate. Site improvements include limited grading, new parking and entry drive, a service drive, perimeter fencing, gates, and a controlled sliding gate measuring 16 feet wide. The solicitation for this project is issued by the County of Stokes, North Carolina, under solicitation number 70312-10-2025 AC, with Glenda Pruitt as the primary point of contact. Responses are due by January 14, 2026.
