SOW & RFQ & T&Cs NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) Video Storage Area Network (SAN) System Statement of Work (SOW) 1.0 Background and Objective: NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) requires the replacement of its current Storage Area Network for video production. The current system consists of server, fibre channel switch, and two storage arrays. MacOS users connect via Thunderbolt to fibre converters. The system auto-mounts and users work directly off the server. As files age and are no longer needed online, a script offloads the files to the offline central tape storage to free up space on the arrays. As video file sizes increase, this system cannot keep up with demand and the system is now at capacity. Additionally, the hardware components are at end-of-life. The objective of this procurement is to replace the existing system with an updated SAN of matching functionality and increased storage capacity. This system must be compatible with, and connect to, the existing workstations, storage arrays, and fibre network (see Appendix A for specifications). Currently 5 Mac OS workstations connect via SANlink thunderbolt-to-fibre converters. We must: replace the ageing system, maintain the same kind of user connectivity and interface, provide increased storage capacity, integrate with existing storage hardware, and allow for expandability in the future. 2.0 Scope: The scope of work encompasses replacement of the current SAN while maintaining the same kind of user connectivity and interface. 3.0 Description of Technical Requirements: 3.1 The Contractor shall deliver, install, configure, connect users, and bring to a fully operational state a SAN System (Deliverable Item 4.1) - QuantumXcellis Workflow Director System or Equivalent - with the following minimum capabilities and standards: a) Minimum 72TB raw capacity b) Use fibre channel fabric to connect users directly to the arrays via the fibre switch for maximum data throughput Note: The current NASA system data flow is direct from user through fibre switch to array (fabric). The SAN System shall not have point-to-point or loop configurations. c) Fibre channel switch shall have at least 24 ports [Brocade 6505 Fibre Channel Switch or Equivalent] d) The configuration shall accommodate minimum 5 Apple clients and the two existing arrays identified in Appendix A e) Support Apple clients via Thunderbolt ports using existing SANLINK Thunderbolt to fibre interface f) Integrate legacy hardware containing data identified in Appendix A (both Promise arrays) to the new system g) The SAN shall be transparent to the users and auto-mount on start up. h) Ability to bind to the NASA Active Directory infrastructure i) For archiving and storage management purposes, the admin user of the system controller shall have the capability to read, write, and execute privileges on the arrays j) Scalable to accommodate additional array capacity in the future. k) Scalable to accommodate a secondary Controller and Fibre switch for rollover/failover redundancy capability in the future. l) Supply rails to mount new SAN components in existing server rack. 3.2 The Contractor shall provide SAN System Maintenance and Support (Deliverable Item 4.1). Maintenance and support shall include, but is not limited to, the following: a) Quantum Xcellis Workflow Director with Combined User Data and Metadata, Annual Support Plan, Bronze Level (5x9xNBD), or Equivalent 4.0 Deliverable Items: SOW reference Short Description Due Date 3.1 SAN System NLT 30 days after contract award 3.2 SAN System Maintenance and Support NLT 30 days after contract award 5.0 Government Furnished Information or Property: None. 6.0 Period of Performance: The period of performance is 30 days after contract award.
