The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Laboratory Sciences Emergency Response Branch intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price contract to TriMech Solutions, LLC for the procurement of a Stratasys Connex 350 System. This acquisition is justified under U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) and FAR Part 6.302-1, as Stratasys is identified as the only provider of an industrial grade filament deposition modeling system that meets the agency's specific performance and material requirements. TriMech Solutions was selected not only as the provider of the system but also for their ability to offer local technical support, instrument service, and comprehensive training courses at a nearby facility. The procurement falls under NAICS code 333517 for Machine and Tool Manufacturing. While this notice serves as an intent to award without a formal solicitation on FedBizOpps, the government allowed interested parties to submit capability statements to Philip Robinson by April 27, 2018, to determine if a competitive procurement was warranted. The final decision to proceed with the sole source award remained at the sole discretion of the Contracting Officer.
