6640--RFQ EQUIPMENT - SLIDEMATE AS ON-DEMAND SYSTEMThe Department of Veterans Affairs is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Request for Information (RFI) under solicitation number 36C24226Q0672, targeting the procurement of SlideMate and PrintMate systems for automated slide and tissue cassette labeling at the Hudson Valley VA Medical Center in Wappingers Falls, New York. This effort is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside under NAICS code 334118, with the goal of acquiring compact, new thermal transfer printing systems that enable on-demand, accurate labeling directly onto cassettes and glass slides using black ink via heat transfer toner, ensuring labels withstand histological staining without smudging or peeling. The systems must feature a maximum footprint of 13” depth by 7” width by 12” height, USB connectivity, manual single-slide programming, customizable label content including accession numbers and facility identifiers, and compatibility with standard laboratory workflows. Vendors must supply 10 thermal transfer ribbon rolls and five hot foil transfer paper rolls annually for a five-year period, and all equipment must be new, with refurbished or used units strictly prohibited. The VA prioritizes domestically manufactured products and requires full disclosure of business size status, Unique Entity ID, manufacturing origin, subcontracting plans, and any existing federal contract programs such as GSA FSS or NASA SEWP. Although this RFI does not include formal contract clauses, evaluation factors, or pricing data, responses are due by June 22, 2026, submitted exclusively via email to the designated Contract Specialist, Sanchez Reid, at Sanchez.Reid@va.gov, with the intent to inform a future formal solicitation under FAR Part 12 for commercial items.

The University of Western Ontario is inviting qualified suppliers to submit proposals for the supply and installation of two cryostats and a laser capture microdissection system under an open tender process. The two cryostats are required for precise sectioning of frozen biological tissues, including brain, bone, and organoids from human and non-human sources, to support advanced research in mass spectrometry imaging and traditional histopathology. One cryostat will be dedicated exclusively to the Mass Spectrometry Imaging Suite to prevent cross-contamination from mounting media that interfere with mass spectrometry signals, while the second will be located in the Digital Histopathology Suite to prepare samples for spatially resolved digital biomarker discovery platforms that integrate with MSI datasets. The laser capture microdissection system, to be installed in the MSI Suite, will enable the isolation of specific regions of interest from MSI data for downstream high-resolution molecular analysis via electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The procurement allows for multiple vendor solutions if no single supplier can meet all technical requirements, and suppliers are encouraged to propose comprehensive or modular configurations. The estimated pre-tax budget is CAD$630,000 plus HST, and all proposals must be submitted electronically via the BonfireHub portal by June 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM ET. Submissions must include mandatory forms covering submission details, pricing, references, technical compliance, sustainability commitments, and a checklist of deliverables. Evaluation will be scored based on experience, technical capability, service and support, sustainability practices, value-added ideas, accessibility under AODA, pricing, and in-kind contributions. The equipment must be delivered and installed by December 2026, with the agreement duration commencing upon successful receipt and commissioning. The procurement is governed by the Canadian Free Trade Agreement and the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement. Suppliers may be invited to negotiate after evaluation, and all documentation must be submitted in English. The full tender documents are available at no cost on BonfireHub, and bidders are advised to consult them directly as they supersede any information in the public notice.

Suppliers can find the complete tender document(s), at no cost, on: https://uwo.bonfirehub.ca. Procuring Entity: University of Western Ontario (Western) Procurement Services 1151 Richmond Street London, Ontario, Canada, N6A 3K7 Contact: Scott Roth sroth6@uwo.ca Procurement Method: Open tender whereby all interested Suppliers may submit a Proposal. Description: The RFP is an invitation to submit offers for the Supply and Install of Two Cryostats and a Laser Capture Microdissection System, as further described herein. Two Tissue Cryostats are requested for use of sectioning biological samples (brain, bone, organoids, etc…) from both human and non-human sources. The cryostats will allow preparation of frozen tissue specimens for biological, medical, and industrial applications, and is necessary for producing high quality tissue sections for studies utilizing mass spectrometry imaging (MSI), immunohistochemistry, histochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Two cryostats with the same capabilities that are specified below are requested for use at the University of Western Ontario. One will be used strictly for sample preparation in the Mass Spectrometry Imaging Suite for mass spectrometry imaging to avoid cross-contamination with non-MSI tissues mounted in traditional mounting medium (which suppresses mass spectrometry signals) typically used for histological/immunofluorescent staining. The second cryostat will be housed at the Digital Histopathology Suite for sectioning of specimens that will be used in the comprehensive biomarker discovery platform using traditional histopathology equipment and infrastructure aimed to build spatially derived digital databases that, with image co-registration, can integrate with MSI acquired datasets. A Laser Capture Microdissection System (LMD/LCM) is being requested for the isolation of regions of interest (ROIs) from mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) data sets. The LMD system will be housed in the MSI Suite at Western University to allow for isolation of regions of interest following MSI for deep biomarker discovery, validation, and quantification via high resolution molecular analysis via electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Western’s preference is to have a single solution; however, it may be necessary to implement multiple products and therefore the proponent(s) response(s) do not need to cover all platforms as Western may select multiple solutions to cover all of its needs. Refer to the RFP document for further details. Budget: The estimated total pre-tax budget is CAD$630,000 plus HST. Estimated Quantities: Available within the tender document Submission Details: All tender submissions must be uploaded electronically at https://uwo.bonfirehub.ca Submission Deadline: June 16, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET Public Opening: Not Applicable Conditions for Participation: Available within the tender document(s) Mandatory Submission Requirements: Appendix B- Submission Form Appendix C- Rate Bid Form Appendix D- Reference Form Appendix E- Deliverables and Technical Requirements Questionnaire Appendix F- Western’s Commitment to Sustainability in Procurement and Supporting Documents Appendix G- Proponents Checklist Complete submission requirements are provided within the tender document(s).
