Survey of potential Western Channel MPA control sites

JNCC Support Co is soliciting an offshore survey under solicitation C26-0877-2337 to support the planning of a future effectiveness of measures survey at the Western Channel Marine Conservation Zone. The primary goal is to confirm the presence or absence of Barchan Dunes within a depth range of 85 to 105 meters. The scope of work includes the acquisition and interpretation of multibeam bathymetry and backscatter for control site identification, ground truthing and habitat characterisation, and the compilation of a final report. A repeat bathymetry survey for geomorphological change detection is included as a costed option. Technical requirements specify 100 percent coverage within the surveyed area, at least 50 percent overlap of multibeam lines, and an ideal imagery resolution of 2 meters, with a minimum acceptable resolution of 5 meters. The estimated contract value is 195,833.33 GBP excluding VAT. Award criteria are based on Quality (70 percent), Price (20 percent), and Social Value (10 percent), with specific weightings allocated to the quality of the bid and contractor details. The procurement is an open procedure particularly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, with a submission deadline of September 28, 2026. The contract is governed by the JNCC General Terms and Conditions for the Provision of Services from August 2025.
