Sustainability Policy and Regulatory Update

On June 30, 2026, the County of Santa Cruz approved a comprehensive update to its local codes and zoning regulations under the Sustainability Policy and Regulatory Update initiative, aiming to align county ordinances with current State and Federal legal requirements while enhancing clarity and consistency across land use provisions. The action included minor amendments to the General Plan Map and specific rezoning of seven parcels identified by their assessor parcel numbers: 026-091-54, 026-261-17, 029-071-13, 030-121-34, 042-151-23, 070-301-01, and 074-152-30. The County, acting as the Lead Agency, relied on an Addendum to the previously certified Environmental Impact Report for the Sustainability Policy and Regulatory Update (SCH No. 2020079005), concluding under CEQA Guidelines Sections 15162 and 15164 that no additional or supplemental environmental review was necessary due to the limited scope of changes and absence of new significant environmental impacts.
