The General Services Administration hereby provides notice of its intent to award a sole-source, firm fixed-price contract to Power Protection Unlimited for the Department of State in Washington, DC at the Harry S. Truman (HST) Building under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1). The Scope of Work is to provide demolition services for removal of existing electronic equipment and the installation services of follow-on Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) to support the Second Floor Roof Emergency Power Protection Project. The HST is the central hub to all Department of State's critical global communications and security, in addition to the day-to-day activities and infrastructure for all Department of State facilities. In addition, the 24 hour/7 day staff is required to respond immediately in the event of a natural disaster, national security concern or terrorist attack. The equipment installation upgrade is required in order to maintain the capability for employees to accomplish their assigned duties. This project must be completed in order to coincide with larger projects that are currently in progress and scheduled for completion between March and December 2011. Power Protection Unlimited (PPU) is uniquely familiar with the existing equipment system since all the equipment has been previously installed and upgraded by PPU. In addition, the firm presently maintains the proper security clearances that are necessary to immediately access the second floor roof in order for the contractor to perform the work in accordance with the Government's schedules. The Department of State requires the installation of the equipment expeditiously in order to minimize the potential for catastrophic failure of the Power Protection System Infrastructure. The intent of this synopsis is for informational purposes only and IS NOT a request for competitive bids. No solicitation will be issued for this sole source requirement and no other information will be provided.
