Synthetic Training Environment (STE) RFI Report

The Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Request for Information (RFI) was issued by the Program Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation under the Department of Defense to gather input from industry and academia regarding potential architectures, technologies, and niche capabilities for a future Synthetic Training Environment. This RFI, posted in October 2015, served as a market research tool to identify current and emerging product lines that could support the STE program. There was no official North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code designated for the STE, leading to the use of multiple codes related to technology and simulation sectors. Feedback consolidated from the submissions was shared in a report in May 2016, although no further responses were requested at that time. The STE initiative aims to enhance simulation and training capabilities by leveraging innovative IT solutions and simulation technology. The contract originates from the Department of Defense’s office located in Orlando, Florida, and the designated Contracting Officer is Duane St. Peter. This RFI report is intended to inform the PEO STRI’s strategy for advancing synthetic training environments with a broad engagement from relevant sectors.
