Terminal Infrastructure Renewal - Restroom Modernization

The Terminal Infrastructure Renewal - Restroom Modernization project, managed by the Ontario International Airport Authority, involves the rehabilitation and modernization of four existing restrooms, consisting of one men's and one women's facility in both Terminal 2 and Terminal 4. The scope of work is confined to the existing interior footprint of the sterile areas and includes the demolition of aging infrastructure and the installation of ADA-compliant fixtures, finishes, and accessories. To maintain operational continuity and passenger access during construction, the project includes the temporary conversion of existing concessionaire space into interim restrooms. The project is designed to meet current passenger expectations and must comply with ADA accessibility requirements and California Health and Safety Code Section 118507, specifically regarding the installation of baby diaper changing stations. Construction is estimated to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and conclude in the first quarter of 2028, with potential night-time work scheduled to minimize impacts on airport operations. The project is categorized as exempt from further environmental review under CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301, 15302, and 15303, as it involves the rehabilitation of existing structures without changing land use or increasing airport capacity.
