Tevis Junior High School Expansion Project

The Tevis Junior High School Expansion Project, managed by the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District, involves the construction of several new amenities on the north side of the campus located at 3901 Pin Oak Boulevard in Bakersfield, California. The scope of work includes four 960 square foot classroom buildings, a 1,440 square foot administrative building, a 1,440 square foot multi-purpose building, 480 square foot restrooms, a 900 square foot shade structure, and a 2,304 square foot play court. Additional site improvements consist of an ADA accessible passenger drop-off, pedestrian walkways, perimeter fencing, and maintenance and storage areas. The project requires minimal grading for building pads and walkways and may necessitate the removal of one existing tree. The primary objective of the expansion is to modernize school infrastructure, enhance safety, and improve educational services. This growth is expected to increase the student population by approximately 20 students and add five to seven staff members. The project is categorized under a Class 14 Categorical Exemption per California Public Resources Code Section 15314, as it does not add more than ten classrooms or increase student capacity by more than 25 percent.
