Mod 008 was issued to extend the period of performance to allow GSA sufficient time to compete the follow-on task order. The action being approved is a single source (Limited Source Justification) for a firm-fixed price type task order under the GSA Information Technology 70 Services (IT 70) Schedule contract. This extension will allow for contractor support for the following periods of performance: Option Period 3 Extension Base: 10 January 2016 through 09 March 2016 Option Period 3 Extension Optional: 10 March 2016 through 09 April 2016 GSA's acquisition strategy is to competitively source the follow-on requirement using the GSA IT 70 Schedule Contract while providing fair opportunity to all small businesses holding an IT 70 Schedule contract. DHIMS has an on-going need for IT support services for the continued Tier III help desk management, trouble ticket tracking and data reconciliation supporting the Military Health System (MHS) to ensure the Nation has available at all times a healthy fighting force and the ability to support DoD missions worldwide. Continuing this IT support is essential to the success of DHIMS's mission. The extension is required to provide the Government sufficient time to adequately conduct the recompete acquisition and to avoid a break in service which will be detrimental to the DHIMS mission and operations.
