The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to acquire 16 Dell Latitude E6500 laptops along with batteries and carrying cases, funded by the Recovery Act under the Economic Payments SEI A990 initiative. These items will be procured through a fixed price call order against an existing Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) SS00-09-40028, originally awarded through a competitive process in June 2009. The laptops are essential to support the 16 Travel 1 Digital Recording Units previously ordered for the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) sites, enabling these remote hearing offices to digitally record hearings. This capability directly supports SSA’s goal of reducing backlogs in hearing offices. The procurement is managed by the SSA Office of Acquisition Grants based in Baltimore, Maryland, with Joan M Smith serving as the Contracting Officer. This notice is provided solely for informational purposes and does not require contractor response. The action highlights the continued investment in technology to enhance operational efficiency within SSA’s hearing office system and is part of the broader Recovery Act effort to facilitate economic and administrative improvements.
