The Town of Stony Plain is inviting qualified contractors to submit proposals for a comprehensive water meter replacement and upgrade program scheduled to unfold over six to eight years, contingent on annual funding. The initiative encompasses the replacement of aging residential, commercial, and industrial water meters as well as the full design, supply, installation, and calibration of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure system, including RF transmitters, meter reading devices, and route processing software. Contractors must also retrofit existing meters with radio transmitters to enable integration into the new AMR system, ensuring seamless data collection and automation. The selected vendor will deliver a turnkey solution covering project management, implementation planning, installation, staff training, ongoing technical support, customer communication, minor civil works, and the critical integration of meter data with the Town’s existing billing software. All aspects of the project, from public engagement to system deployment, must be managed by the contractor to ensure minimal disruption and maximum efficiency. The solicitation, identified as AB-2026-03389, was posted on April 30, 2026, and responses are due by June 15, 2026. Trista Baksa serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries. The program aims to modernize the Town’s water metering system to improve accuracy, reduce manual reading efforts, enhance data reliability, and support future utilities management goals. While the contract falls under the Town of Stony Plain, the listing erroneously identifies the agency as the Government of Canada, and the project is strictly a municipal initiative in Alberta.
