Yucca Trail Widening Project – Palomar Avenue To La Contenta Road
Solicitation # 7074
The Town of Yucca Valley is soliciting professional civil engineering design services for the Yucca Trail Widening Project, located between Palomar/Avalon Avenue and La Contenta Road in Yucca Valley, California. The selected contractor will be responsible for creating a comprehensive Plans, Specifications, and Engineer's Estimates package, which includes street improvement, signing, striping, and streetlight plans, as well as final cost estimates and record drawings. The scope requires the consultant to evaluate the project for safety, constructability, utility conflicts, right-of-way constraints, and ADA compliance, utilizing the latest version of AutoCAD and adhering to the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction and Town driveway standards. The agreement is for an initial term of two years, with a possible two-year extension upon mutual consent. Proposals must be submitted in two separate sealed envelopes by December 3, 2026, with the technical proposal limited to ten pages. Evaluation criteria include the service approach, company qualifications, past performance, proximity of the contractor's office, and the ability to commence work immediately. Compensation will be negotiated after the contractor is selected, and the Town aims to process undisputed monthly invoices within forty-five days. While the contractor must provide worker's compensation and indemnity insurance, it is noted that California prevailing wage laws do not apply to this specific agreement.

The Austin Webcor Joint Venture has been awarded a project to upgrade the International Terminal Boarding Area G by designing, constructing, activating, and commissioning new passenger boarding bridges suitable for both narrow and wide-body aircraft. The scope includes removing outdated PBBs, installing advanced visual docking guidance systems at each gate, and enhancing infrastructure such as concrete pavements and fire hydrants. The project also encompasses extensive civil, utility, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and telecommunication work within the Air Operations Area, with a focus on minimizing operational disruptions by limiting gate closures to no more than one at a time. Within this project, the joint venture is seeking pre-qualified subcontractors for the Electrical & Special Systems trade package, valued at approximately $30 million. These subcontractors will handle the design-build responsibilities, including engineering, pre-construction, and construction activities, with a competitive selection process based on best value rather than solely low bid. Pre-qualification is mandatory, and interested firms must meet specific criteria and coordinate with Webcor for participation. The bid deadline is set for March 4, 2025, and the project aims to ensure seamless integration of electrical and special systems to support the overall terminal enhancements.
