Traffic Calming

The City of Pittsburgh Department of Mobility and Infrastructure has issued solicitation 2026-IFB-186 for a traffic calming program focused on the installation of speed cushions, speed humps, speed tables, and raised crosswalks. A primary objective of the program is the use of speed cushions to ensure emergency service vehicles can navigate designated corridors without significant delays. The contract period runs from November 1, 2026, through October 31, 2028, with two optional one-year renewals. The award will be granted to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with requirements for performance and payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract price. The scope of work includes the installation of 800 linear feet of speed humps, 6,400 square feet of speed cushions, 72 linear feet of speed tables, and 1,600 square feet of 3-inch raised crosswalks. All work must adhere to PennDOT Publication 213 Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and specific City of Pittsburgh engineering details regarding milling, sealing, and dimensional tolerances. Contractors must comply with Pennsylvania prevailing wage rates and City ordinances regarding non-discrimination and equal employment opportunity for previously convicted individuals. Bids are due by October 21, 2026, at 2:00 pm, and must include completed EORC Participation, Vendor Registration, and Vendor Contact forms to be considered responsive.
