Traffic Signal at Harbor Boulevard and La Entrada Drive (CIP 46993)

The City of Fullerton plans to install a new traffic signal system at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and La Entrada Drive to improve safety and reduce broadside collisions, which have become a concern for residents due to the current intersection configuration. The project will include the installation of multiple traffic signal poles with reinforced foundations, vehicle detection systems, a service cabinet, and a controller cabinet, all located within the city’s right-of-way. To ensure safe and accurate utility mapping prior to construction, twelve utility potholes with a maximum depth of six feet and a twelve-inch diameter will be dug. The installation is justified by three of the nine traffic signal warrants outlined in the California MUTCD, specifically crash experience, traffic volume, and spacing between signals, demonstrating a clear need for the upgrade. In addition to the traffic signals, safety lighting will be installed to enhance nighttime visibility at the intersection, further contributing to reduced collision rates and improved mobility for all road users. The project, identified as CIP 46993, is part of the city’s capital improvement program and is scheduled for posting on July 30, 2026.
