The Tribal High Priority Projects Program is a competitive discretionary grant established under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and administered directly by the federal government through the Department of Transportation. This program serves as a set-aside of the Tribal Transportation Program formula grant, specifically targeting Tribes or their governmental subdivisions. Funding is available to entities whose annual allocations are insufficient to complete their highest priority projects or to those facing emergency or disaster situations that have rendered transportation facilities impassable and are ineligible for the Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads program. Focusing on the core topics of transportation and resilience, the program is currently active and accepting applications on a rolling basis. Eligible uses of the funds are strictly limited to high-priority projects and those related to emergency or disaster recovery.
