This combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format at FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The solicitation number W913E520Q0015 is being issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 334519 - Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing. The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) has a requirement for a Trimble C5 2" Winterized Total Station, w/ Access, Optical Plummet, Part Number 541206, for use in the Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility. The Trimble C5 2" Winterized Total Station, w/ Access, Optical Plummet must have the following minimum specifications: The Trimble C5 2 Winterized Total Station is required to support multiple surveying applications required for Cold Regions Research and Development Center in Fairbanks, Alaska, specifically including the construction and maintenance of the Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility. Among other applications, the Trimble Total Station is necessary to survey progress during excavation. The winterized version (Trimble C5 2 Winterized Total Station, part number 541206) is required to operate effectively in the rugged, dusty and below freezing conditions of the tunnel. This purchase is necessary to replace the existing Trimble Total Station that was damaged during excavation activities to expand the facility. Existing surveying equipment and software already purchased and in use at the Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility is all manufactured by Trimble. Compatibility. The equipment must be compatible with the existing Trimble Global Positioning System (GPS) and surveying equipment already used extensively in the Permafrost Tunnel Research Facility. Shipping should be included in the contractors quote; final destination: CRREL AKRO, 4070 9th Street, Fort Wainwright, AK 99703. The Trimble C5 2 Winterized Total Station is the only product that can meet all of the factors relevant to CRREL's requirement. Relevant factors including the need to be interoperable with existing CRREL equipment. Currently, CRREL uses Trimble survey grade Differential GPS units (R10, R8 GPS receivers and data collectors). Software service and support through the Trimble Business Center will allow compatibility between all units, including the Trimble C5 Total Station. This purchase would add to the existing capability to acquire high accuracy survey data in areas where satellite coverage such as dense forest canopy and underground in the permafrost tunnel. As such, no other brand/type of winterized station will satisfy the immediate requirement. Please reference the attached RFQ for applicable provisions and clauses.
