UC Berkeley Electrified Heating & Cooling Plant Project – Increment 6: Roofing, Grading, Finishes

The UC Berkeley Electrified Heating and Cooling Plant project involves the construction of an all-electric facility to replace the existing natural gas steam plant. The facility is a single-level building featuring a roof designed as a recreational field and includes a 2 million gallon thermal energy storage exterior steel tank located southeast of the main building. This specific solicitation, Increment 6, focuses on roofing, grading, and finishes, covering trades such as waterproofing, sheet metal flashing, site grading and paving, flooring, painting, coating, tile, countertops, overhead coiling doors, signage, and final cleaning. The estimated value for these specific work packages is 8.46 million dollars within a total project construction estimate of 159 million dollars. Managed by Webcor Builders under a Construction Manager At Risk delivery method, the contract is awarded to the low responsive bidder. To be eligible, subcontractors must be prequalified by both Webcor Builders and UC Berkeley and must have attended a mandatory pre-bid job walk. Responsive bids require a completed BuildingConnected bid form and a bid bond for 10 percent of the bid amount using the AIA form. While a University Controlled Insurance Program is provided, trade contractors may be required to provide a 100 percent payment and performance bond.
